Free Corkage, Japanese Tasting & Some Old Paper

Today we are 7 weeks at our new abode, but more incredibly, yesterday, August 16th marked 45 years of Corkscrew history. The Corkscrew was originally founded by Peter Foley in 1978 when the first shop opened on Aughrim Street. Peter has now officially worked in the wine trade for 45 years, it's a huge honour to still have him on our team, and we'd be lost without him!

It wasn't long after Aughrim Street opened that the below article appeared in a newspaper, and soon after Paul was born. As you're probably aware, just over two decades after that, the two embarked on a mission to find a city centre location, and that's how we ended up on Chatham Street.

Well, out of little acorns, great oak trees grow!! We were blessed with the customers and support we had on Chatham St for our "almost 20 years". Thankfully since relocating, we have maintained and attracted many more customer and business relations, and you'll definitely want to hold on to your paper for the next part....(maybe not 40 plus years)

Yes, you read that right, our bags tend to make a regular appearance at Hawksmoors BYOB Monday Wine Club. As a result of this, the critically acclaimed top-notch steakhouse has decided to waive their Monday night corkage fee and reduce their Wednesday to Saturday fee for all customers who buy their wine from us. Proof of purchase is required, so make sure to bring your receipt!! This partnered promotion will run until November 30th!!

BOOK A TABLE

In the last 7 weeks, our cellar has come along nicely, we have some premium window displays and our shelves are finally (only took 20 years) labelled with proper signs. We have been extremely fortunate to have had the privilege to be able to host some pre-booked private cellar tastings and also have suppliers or brand ambassadors come to us in a bid to promote their products through public tastings. We've all learned a thing or two.

In saying that, and sincere apologies for the late notice, especially to those who aren't around Dublin 2, this afternoon from 4pm to 7pm, Karl Flood will be hosting a "House of Suntory" tasting (check out the window display above)

House of Suntory are celebrating 100 years of whisky making, they are a House of Japanese artisans, crafting world-class spirits, inspired by Japanese nature and mastered with Japanese craft. In addition to their luxury brands Yamazaki, Hakushu, they also have Suntory Whisky Toki, Roku Gin and Haku Vodka as premium offerings. We know there will be a gin, whisky and vodka open tomorrow, but you can check out the range below.
