  3. Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2017

    Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2017

    €12.99

Cherry-red colored vintage that’s best served chilled. This fresh and fruity red is the result of a quick fermentation process that ends up with a tasty, clean wine that is enjoyed by palates the world over. The Gamay grapes that go into Beaujolais Nouveau are handpicked in the Beaujolais province of France.

Beaujolais Nouveau owes its easy drink ability to a wine making process called carbonic maceration, also known as whole-berry fermentation. This technique preserves the fresh, fruity quality of the grapes without extracting bitter tannins from the grape skins. The most well-known producer of Beaujolais Nouveau is Georges Duboeuf, who is credited as one of the marketing geniuses behind the wine.

  9. Pegos Claros Palmela 2012

    Pegos Claros Palmela 2012

    €14.95

    Out of stock

The 2012 Pegos Claros is all Castelao, partly aged in oak and coming in at 14% alcohol. As tends to be the case with this grape, it is remarkably flavourful, particularly when young and just opened. It also shows some capacity to evolve, demonstrating a little more finesse and character. It has fine solidity in the mid-palate and reasonable structure, too, with a sunny feel on the finish. It is less clear how long this will hold at peak, but at the moment it should particularly appeal to Grenache lovers who enjoy the bold flavours of that grape.
