  4. Dehesa La Granja 2011

    Dehesa La Granja 2011

    €21.95

Dehesa la Granja is a very old vineyard site with cellars and forest that have been used by the Spanish court for hunting and sport. Alejandro Fernandez bought it and has kept thee large tracts of forest, but has re-established it as farm for sheep, deer, pigs, chickpeas … and Tempranillo. All organic practices and the organic matter generated also is used on the other Pesquera properties. Same low yielding, organic viticulture and winemaking as Pesquera and Condado de Haza. As it is in the Toro region the tannins are high, but in-stead of going super OTT with ripeness and abv Alejandro prefers restraint and time in the extensive cellars. He sees this as his best wine. It is not classified as Toro as the DO would require him to classify the Dehesa 2011 as a Reserva or Gran Reserva. He sees this as his Crianza. He does make what he sees as a Reserva, which is 19 years old. The vineyard is too young thought for a Gran Reserva. I think it’s a star! Learn More
