    The Estate

The domaine has been owned by the Geniest family for over a hundred years and apart from one small parcel of Syrah has all its vineyard holdings in the commune of Sorgues, the southern part of the appellation of Châteauneuf du Pape. The soil type here is a mixture of clay, gravel and sand with a scattering of galets roulets on the surface. This soil combination provides heat during the day but much cooler night time temperatures which help maintain higher levels of acidity in the grapes. At harvest time, the grapes are de-stemmed and then crushed before being pumped into traditional concrete tanks. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in tank and the wines are then aged for 18+ months in large, oak casks in order to reduce the primary fruit characteristics in favour of more spicy notes. The wine is a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 15% Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Picpoul Noir. Prepare to be amazed. Learn More

    Château Musar Bekaa Valley 2011

    €42.95

On the nose it is very true to form, showing deliciously sweet fruit nuanced with cloves, with a dried and spicy character. Typical Musar on the palate although with lots of youthful exuberance, very sappy and substantial too, richly imbued with structure. It is rather reticent in some respects, quite hard, withdrawn and peppery-spicy here Learn More
  9. Yalumba 'The Virgilius' Viognier Eden Valley 2013

Yalumba 'The Virgilius' Viognier Eden Valley 2013

    €48.95

The nose displays intense aromas of white peach, apricot and ginger. Ginger spice is layered on the palate with mineral texture allure with complex apricots and white stone fruit flavours. The trademark Viognier lusciousness of the palate is clearly evident in this wine which is unctuous and complex while at the same time, showing restraint that should ensure good cellaring for at least 3-4 years.

Hand picked grapes were whole-bunch pressed directly to barrels, and the juice handled with passive oxidation. The wine was fermented in mostly
mature French oak barriques, by a population of naturally occurring and differing species of yeast indigenous to the environment of the vineyard. In these "wild" or "feral" ferments each yeast played a small and subtly different part in the development of the wine, creating layers of richness, complexity, fine textures and flavours. After fermentation the wine was aged on lees with regular batonage for 11 months to further heighten the palate weight and increase the complexity and flavour generosity. At blending only the finest barrels were chosen. Learn More
  10. Yalumba 'The Signature' Cabernet Shiraz 2012

Yalumba 'The Signature' Cabernet Shiraz 2012

    €49.95

A seductively aromatic wine, this is one of the very best Signatures. Opening with very cool, bright and almost fresh menthol aromas that merge with red currant fruits, tobacco leafy notes and cedary spices all supported with fine violet and cherry florals. A wine with great cellaring potential of 15 or more years.

Excellent ...The Cabernet and Shiraz grapes derive from old vine material in the Eden Valley and Barossa Valley. After batch-vinification the wine completes fermentation in barrel, followed by maturation in Yalumba-coopered new and seasoned American and French oak. It is typified by rich plum/dark chocolate/panforte aromas and flavours, dense, chalky tannins, superb generosity of fruit and underlying savoury oak. Learn More
