For those looking forward to the end of January, we've got the perfect day out for you. Our 15th Annual Charity Wine Fair is due to take place on Sunday February 2nd in The Westbury Hotel from 1pm to 5pm. As always, all proceeds go to a very worthwhile cause, our chosen charity this year is Pieta House. This fair sees our best selection of wines ever and more of our own direct imports than ever before. We've already had some great prizes donated for the raffle. This is a fantastic day out and a great opportunity to discover some new wines while supporting a very worthy cause. We are really looking forward to seeing you there.

What to Expect

With over 100 of the best wines in the country open on the day, we advise a little restraint but don't necessarily expect it. Three laps of the room should cover most of what's on offer from white, red, sparkling and fortified wines from around the world, you might even squeeze in a glass of water. (You'll be grateful on Monday) We will provide you with a tasting sheet so do take note of the wines you like, take advantage of our delivery service and make sure to order before you forget what you like!!

Our tables will be managed by a number of  suppliers as well as some familiar faces! We also have some of the wine makers themselves taking a trip over. This year you will have the opportunity to meet Christoph from our new German House "Thorle", Anthony, the "non-conforming" wine maker from Aubert & Mathieu, Guillaume from our exclusive Burgundy House "Vincent Girardin", Alessandra from our new Prosecco House "Bepindeeto" and also Silvia the ambassador for Bodegas Cornelio. This is a great opportunity to ask them as many questions as you want and it will be great to meet them all and see what new wines they have. We are very grateful for their time and support.

As the afternoon draws to a close you will hear a little from Brian about Pieta House and a little from Paul about the day itself and how much was raised. We will then hold the all important raffle (people tend to get a little excited here, especially after a few drinks!) so make sure you don't lose your tickets!! We've some fantastic prizes on offer which were kindly donated by local businesses, some of which include:

  • A piece by Artist Orla Walsh (her work is fantastic)
  • A voucher for "Afternoon Tea for Two with Champagne" from The Westbury
  • A six week session with Bootcamp Ireland.
  • Several places in our upcoming Spring Tastings
  • A voucher from our friends at La Maison
  • Another voucher from our friends at Sheridans Cheesemongers
  • A voucher for a Prescriptive Académie Paris Facial at award-winning Bespoke Beauty, led by Elaine Butler Doolin, in Donnybrook, Dublin 4, worth €90.
  • A voucher from Divine Boutique, Maynooth, Co. Kildare
  •  A stunning pair of handcrafted earrings from Aria-V
  • Dinner for Two in Roly’s Bistro, Ballsbridge  - thanks to Paul Cartwright, owner and head chef

A little Info on Pieta House

Pieta House first opened its doors in 2006. In that time almost 50,000 people have used the services that your support helps to provide. We offer one-to-one therapeutic counselling to people who suffer suicidal ideation, those who self-harm and family, friends and individuals who have lost a loved one to suicide. We also offer support to people who have recently lost someone with our Suicide Bereavement Liaison service. Our Resilience Academy, which is a 6 week programme delivered to 2nd year secondary students has helped over 10,000 students in its first year and our 24/7 helpline, 1800 247 247 supports people in their time of need when they need it.

We receive 15% of our funding from the HSE and 85% comes from the generosity of the Irish people. Without this support we would not be able to provide our services. We would not have been able to open a further 14 centres since that first in 2006. This is only possible because of the support of events like this and because of people like you who continue to support us. Thank you."

What You Can Do

If this sounds like something you or someone you know would love to attend, book your tickets here! Spread the word, invite your friends and family along! If you can not attend on the day but would like to support you can drop a donation or a raffle prize in to The Corkscrew or The Westbury. Hopefully you can attend and we'll look forward to seeing you on the day!
