Clos d’Ambonnay is a tiny walled plot of 0.68 hectares located in the heart of Ambonnay, one of the most distinguished villages for Pinot Noir grapes in Champagne and the main source of Pinot Noir for the House since its earliest years.
Krug Clos d’Ambonnay 2000 is the fourth Champagne from this unique plot of Pinot Noir. The first was created with the harvest of 1995.Tasting NotesA particularly luminous straw-gold colour which shimmers with
brightness.
Aromas of brioche, caramel and spices.
In the mouth, a very fresh taste with rich flavours of tarte tatin,caramel and pastry cream, with a long and slightly lemony finish.

2000 was hot, rainy and stormy with the harvest at Krug’s Clos d’Ambonnay taking place on a single day, September 29. It was a bountiful year with astoundingly intense Pinot Noir grapes.
The House of Krug chose to reveal Krug Clos d’Ambonnay 2000 because, from the very first tastings, the Pinot Noir grapes from this enclosed plot glowed with a rare generosity and beauty, revealing delightful balance and character without excess.
The year 2000 thus succeeded in expressing the full potential of this walled plot with true beauty and poise

| Critics Review | 98 Points - Decanter -Gorgeous fresh colour with hints of emerald and buttercup yellow, and minuscule bubbles across the glass. The palate has some serious luxury with the mousse creamy across the tongue, but there is cocoa and buttery Brazil nut flesh, the weight filling the mid-palate before a precision to the acidity that scythes through something like the 1996, the little toast notes filling underneath.
