A classic dry aromatic style of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The citrus core of flavours are juicy and intense with deliciously refreshing saline acidity. The wine calls for simple fresh seafood but can also be enjoyed as a pre-dinner aperitif. One of the best vintages the region has experienced in years. Drinks beautifully now or can comfortably be cellared for five years or moreABV 13.5% WinemakingHandpicked fruit is whole bunch pressed and cold settled before fermentation. A portion of this wine is fermented using indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for
4 months in stainless steel tanks then bottled without fining. VintageA cool and frosty start to the growing season and flowering period, naturally reduced yields to our lowest levels in over 20 years. Novembers rain was welcomed prior to the driest summer on record with only 66mm (50% lower than average) over this period. Temperatures were warm, only slightly above average, which enabled a smooth, steady growing season with little disease pressure. The low yields resulted in the earliest harvest for Dog Point, picking all the Sauvignon before the end of March.

Located in Marlborough, New Zealand’s premium wine growing region, Dog Point Vineyard is one of Marlborough's oldest privately owned vineyards. It was established in 2002 by partners, Ivan & Margaret Sutherland, and James & Wendy Healy. After working together at Cloudy Bay, Ivan and James decided to return to a more hands-on approach and establish their own wine label. They produce wines that reflect the experience and passion of the people that make them.Dog Point Vineyard and winery are certified organic under the Biogro New Zealand programme, which is an independent certification process established to promote environmentally friendly, sustainable and responsible practices. These organic philosophies drive their approach to wine making and help ensure the vines are their best for next year’s harvest.Four wines are produced at Dog Point Vineyard - a sauvignon blanc typical of the Marlborough style, ‘Section 94’, a barrel fermented Sauvignon Blanc, a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir.
In every bottle of wine there is impeccable attention to detail and a thoughtful hands-on approach. This focus is expertly partnered with a low interventionist ethos. Fruit is hand-picked from low cropped, estate-grown vines, grown under organic principles, then hand crafted with great care to produce fine wines that are accessible and enjoyable, that will drink well on release or cellar gracefully for many years. All wines are gluten free and vegan friendly.

Critics Review | Michael Cooper, NZ 5 STARS"The classy 2021 vintage is a bright, light lemon/green, vigorous, full-bodied wine, with intense, vibrant, tropical fruit flavours, a herbaceous undercurrent, and a crisp, dry, lasting finish. A wine with a powerful presence, it's benchmark stuff. Certified Organic.Joelle Thompson 18.5 Points"Sauvignon Blanc is the stock in trade of every self respecting Marlborough winemaker and the vast majority of it tastes juicy, fruity and even with a hint of sweetness on the finish. Here is a wine that bucks that trend entirely thanks to its dry taste, light body and powerful aromas of fresh green plums, gooseberries and herbs. Its refreshing dry style makes a pleasant change from so many Sauvignons these days and the finish leaves a refreshing impression." |
