The weather was mostly warm with little rain, however a heatwave in August followed by a cool and rainy September moderated initial anticipation. Louis Roederer, the largest independent family-managed Champagne producer, is esteemed as one of the finest in the region. Established in 1776, the House is currently overseen by seventh-generation family member Frédéric Rouzaud and Champagne legend Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon. With an impressive 242 hectares of vineyards primarily located in chalk-rich Grand Cru villages, they cover a significant portion of their grape supply. Roederer has been at the forefront of biodynamic farming practices, with all 78 hectares of "Cristal Estates" converted to biodynamic methods by 2012 and 115 hectares certified organic by 2021. The estate comprises 410 plots that are vinified separately in their Reims cellars using over 450 stainless steel tanks. In a strategic move in 2020, Roederer introduced "Collection" to replace Brut Premier, allowing for better identification and adjustment of each year's non-vintage blend to preserve freshness amidst global warming effects on the Champagne region. Today, Cristal stands out as one of the most acclaimed prestige cuvée champagnes worldwide.
