Château Grand Puy Ducasse is a French estate spanning 40 hectares in Pauillac, Gironde. The vineyard consists of three plots within Pauillac and holds the prestigious fifth classified growth status in Bordeaux's 1855 classification of grands crus. Notable vintages include wines from 1945, 1947, and 1949, as well as the grands crus from 1959, 1961, and the vintage wines of 1967. Additionally, vintages such as 1975, 1982, and 1985 offer great interest while exceptional wines can be found in those from 1995, the vintage of 1998, and the year 2000.

Classic creme de cassis notes intermixed with licorice, spring flowers, a bit of toast and smoke are all present in this medium to full-bodied, elegant, yet savory, expansively flavored, deep, silky-textured wine that has outstanding depth, purity, and a good 20-second finish. This is approachable enough to drink in 2-3 years but certainly has the stuffing to last 15-18. |
