A Small Community. A Heartbreaking Story. A Chance To Help

One of the lovely things about being part of Dublin city centre is the close-knit community that exists behind the shopfronts, restaurants and businesses. Over the years, what often begins as a working relationship becomes a friendship. We get to know each other, our families and our stories. We celebrate the good times together and when life takes an unexpected turn, we do our very best to look out for one another.

Sadly, this summer, something happened to a family within our small community that has left us all heartbroken.

On 3rd July, 23-year-old Will Hennessy, the son of our dear friends at ESL Jewellers, suffered a devastating accident that left him with a life-changing spinal cord injury.

Will had his whole life ahead of him. Having studied at Trinity College Dublin, he was preparing to begin his Master's at Smurfit Business School in August. A young man full of energy, kindness and ambition, with a lifelong love of rugby, wonderful friends and so much to look forward to.

And then, in a single moment, everything changed.

Will now faces a long and uncertain journey of rehabilitation, while his parents, Keith and Audrey, his two brothers and the rest of his family try to come to terms with a future none of them could ever have imagined.

It's heartbreaking to think how quickly life can change for any family. And when it's someone you know, someone who is part of your own community, it really does hit close to home.

The Will Hennessy Trust has been established to help provide the specialist rehabilitation, care and home adaptations Will will need as he works towards regaining as much independence as possible.

We know we usually arrive in your inbox with news of lovely wines, special offers or something exciting that's just landed in store. Today, though, we're asking for something very different.

We're asking you to help us support Will and his family.

We appreciate that everyone has their own commitments and challenges, but if you could spare even a small donation, it would be so greatly appreciated. Every contribution will help give Will access to the care and support he needs.

PLEASE HELP SUPPORT WILL

And if you're unable to donate, sharing his story would mean a great deal too.

We can't change what has happened to Will, and we can't take away the challenges ahead. But together, we can try and help make that road a little easier for him and his family.

Because that's what communities do. We look after our own.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading Will's story and for whatever support you can give.
