Altos Las Hormigas is based in Luján de Cuyo, the only officially recognised appellation in Mendoza and one of the regions premier vine growing areas. The estate is known as a Malbec specialist with a reputation as one of the country's top five producers of this particular variety.
Alberto Antonini and fellow Tuscan, Antonio Morescalchi, were so impressed with the vineyards in the area around Mendoza, following their first trip
to Argentina in 1995, that they persuaded a few friends to join with them in buying this estate. The grapes are harvested by hand from high density vineyards located in the Valle de Uco sub-regions of Vista Flores, Altamira and Eugenio Bustos. Yield: 9 ton/ha.

Critics Review | James Suckling - 92 Points This has aromas of brambly dark berries and violet flowers with cassis in the mix, too. The palate has a juicy and succulent feel with fine tannins that make a long, even and attractive shape. |
