Heiman & Sons, Bati Kereszt, Kekfrankos, Hungary 2018

€35.95
Out of stock
The spicy, powerful Kékfrankos (aka Blaufränkisch) is the major red variety of Hungary. Kekfrankos is otherwise know as Blaufrankisch in Austria. It possesses the outstanding property of expressing the origin where it was grown. The Heimanns demonstrate this with four separate single-vineyard expressions of Kékfrankos in an unadulterated & uncompromised way.

The Heimann family has been at the forefront of red winemaking in Hungary for many years. With his brand new collection of wines, Zoltan Heimann Jr. is aiming to capture an autochthonous expression of his hometown, Szekszárd in the south of Hungary. He has vinified sophisticated and expressive terroir wines from the most exciting vineyards, where the delicate Kadarka and spicy Kékfrankos provide him with the best material. The artistic label shows the path that Heimann & Fiai hope will take them to the best wine bars from San Francisco to Moscow!

Critics Review 17.5 Jancis Robinson
A spicy nose that reminds me of Zanzibar curry spice, violets and dark chocolate. Cool, black fruit and then it tastes as if someone emptied a great basket of petals on mossy, leafy forest floor. Violets and dappled shadows moving softly in and out of a black-rock core. Silk and iron tannins dipped in slate dust. The wine hums with a deep inner energy, and it reminds me of the haunting vibration of a didgeridoo. Fine, fine tannis, polished to a glow. Drink 2020 - 2024
