The Mellot family has an extraordinarily long history in Sancerre, with generations of winemaking behind the name. Today Alphonse Mellot is regarded as one of the appellation's leading producers, creating distinctive, terroir-driven wines from carefully tended vineyards around Sancerre. The domaine works organically and biodynamically, with an emphasis on low yields, old vines and allowing the character of Sancerre's soils to come through in the finished wine.
