Medium layer with a bright red background and a light red trim. The nose is very intense, full of fresh fruit that overflows the glass. Red fruits, raspberries, strawberries and cherries that are mixed with each other. A very light, very subtle note of oak appears in the background and allows us to appreciate the prominence of the fruit more clearly. In addition to the fruit, there is complexity and mineral and slightly spicy notes appear. It has a spark of gunpowder and Sichuan pepper that fill it with joy.Medium and continuous volume, without troughs. It is very fresh and the tannin is fine. Red fruits fill the palate and stay for a long time. It is very long and pleasant. A delicious wine to enjoy now and for years to come.ABV 13.5%

At the vanguard of the modern Rioja movement, Bodegas Roda was developed in the late 1980s. From the heart of the Haro, overlooking the Ebro River, Roda fuses tradition and modernity with its 19th century cellar and 21st century Bodega. Through meticulous and exacting research, Roda have perfected the art of Tempranillo, selecting only 20 individual clones to cultivate from over 552 identified. Head winemaker Agustin Santolaya, uses bush vines of between 15 and 30 years old. The wine is dominated by Tempranillo but has a touch of Graciano. Yields are kept low to encourage phenolic maturity, which results in a concentration of intense aromas and depth of flavour complexity on the palate. Following 19 days of maceration, Sela is aged for 12 months in 100% semi-new French oak. This delivers a much more modern style of Rioja; fruit lead, with well-integrated and subtle oak.

Critics Review | 25/09/2021 - Aoife Carrigy - Irish IndependentTempranillo-led with a touch of Graciano and Garnacha keeping things bright and juicy, this is a supple take on the modern style, with 12 months in "semi-new" French oak lending subtle balsamic notes, piquant spice and polished tannins to the wild cherry, sloe and elderberry. |
