Grapes Varieties Syrah, Carignan & Grenache
Terroir Gneiss and Granite in the municipality of Caramany. The high temperature amplitudes due to the altitude allow the grapes to ripen slowly.
Winemaking Harvesting and sorting by hand. Slow vinification of 3 weeks and blends. Aged for 12 months in barrels already used for white wine.

Aubert & Mathieu: The non conforming wine creators in the south of France
Their story is one of two friends with atypical courses but united by the desire to undertake, to have fun and to highlight their origins. Their idea was to make wine but, a little differently. They want you to discover the wealth of the wines of Languedoc Roussillon without taking it too seriously. "We develop our wines hand in hand with passionate winemakers who cultivate the vine and vinify in respect of their terroir. Our approach to creating new products is unethical. Our creations are expressive, intriguing and atypical."

| Critics Review | Aubert & Mathieu – Côtes du Roussillon Villages Caramany 2018 – 17/20 Leather and dried cranberries on the nose. Explodes in the mouth. So intense that it tastes as if the fruit has been on LSD. Catherine wheels of flavour: black cherries, cinnamon, menthol, cumin, red dust, cranberry sherbet poppers. I just love Roussillon! It seems to distil the very soul of the grapes into this fierce charge of concentrated flavour, but there is (almost always) the most fabulous acidity and freshness. You cannot feel the alcohol and the tannins have infused into the fruit. Superb. |
