Masi Wine Tasting - October 9th 6:30pm With Mr. Giacomo Boscaini

The Masi story begins in 1772, when the Boscaini family carried out their first harvest in the
prestigious vineyards in Vajo dei Masi a valley in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica
region. After more than 250 years of passionate winemaking the company is still in family
hands, run by the sixth, seventh and eighth generations. Masi makes wines that are
recognised and appreciated in 140 countries.

Masi constantly innovates and passes on its expertise in the Appassimento method, which
has been practised since the time of the Ancient Romans. In 1964 Masi released a wine
called Campofiorin, and the first ‘Ripasso’ method wine was born.
From the 1960s the family business was driven forward by Sandro Boscaini, known
internationally as “Mr. Amarone”. Under his leadership Masi led the way in raising the quality of Amarone wines and bringing them to a worldwide audience.

Giacomo Boscaini is the nephew of Sandro Boscaini. Born in Negrar, in the Valpolicella
region, Giacomo achieved a degree in marketing and spent some time working in the UK
wine trade, before returning home to join the commercial department of Masi in 2013.
Today he is responsible for relations with the North European countries as the Brand
Ambassador and Export Manager. Giacomo has also since 2017 been a member of the Masi
Technical Group, whose research work in collaboration with Italian and international
institutions and universities has helped to significantly improve the quality of Masi’s wines,
and also Venetian wines in general.
