Dubbed the "heartbreak" grape because it is so difficult to get right, it’s every winemaker’s dream and nightmare, it's vulnerable to so many conditions and has broken many winemakers who planted it, others continue to aspire to making the perfect Pinot, because when it is done right, it's outstanding.
This case showcases a selection of some of our finer Pinots that were done absolutely right,

The Wines In The Premium Pinot Case Are

Alphonse Mellot, La Moussière Sancerre Red
Alphonse Mellot is one of those rare, cool producers crafting excellent whites, reds and rosés in a very hands-on, biodynamic approach. Sancerre rouge "La Moussière" is produced from young vines to be just like biting into the grapes themselves ripe and richly red, a wine that is both tender and vigorous, with no complex.

Vincent Girardin - Gevrey-Chamberlin "Vieilles-Vignes"
For many, wine does not get better than a great bottle of Burgundy Pinot Noir. Vincent Girardin House is a house of conviction. The Gevrey Chambertin wine has high colour, is intensively aromatic, evoking blackberries and other small red and black fruits. A well built wine, combining blending tannins with abundant mellowness.

Thörle, Spätburgunder Saulheimer Hölle, Rheinhessen, 2017
A super impressive new wave organic German wine from a family-owned and run estate in Saulheim in the Rheinhessen. Crafted from vines that are over 35 years old , aged for 20 months in barrel. Opens with pure, ripe but wonderfully tart cherry aromas, expressed on the palate as pristine fruit. A vivid spine of freshness

Giant Steps Applejack Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018
Giant Steps is a privately owned, estate based, Yarra Valley grower and winemaker that has forged a reputation for delivering some of Australia’s most consistent, over-performing, varietal wines. This 96 Point (Gold Decanter ) is perfumed and smoky with toasted cherry, almond and spice on the nose, luscious, sweet oak and beautifully focused plush red fruit on the palate.

Pegasus Bay Pinot Noir 2016
Waipara wines are so underappreciated. This is classy and consistent vintage after vintage, produced exclusively from estate-grown fruit. It was awarded Super Classic Status; "The flight of Pegasus Bay Pinot Noirs continued to illustrate their burgundy influence, the reds often reminiscent of Morey-saint-Denis". Michael Cooper's Buyer’s Guide, NZ

Drappier Pinot Noir Brut Nature
Drappier is considered to be one of the finest boutique champagne producers in the world and this is a cuvée in which nature expresses itself freely. It contains only the wine's natural residual sugar at less than 2g per bottle. Moreover, the use of an absolute minimum of sulphur gives the wine the freedom to express itself totally. On the nose there is crisp and at the same time ripe fruit. On the palate it is upright and pure, with abundant finesse and freshness.
