Our New Case Of The Month

For many, the weekend gently begins on a Thursday, except for those in retail; however, today will give us two causes to start celebrating. Firstly, it's our most senior team members' birthday. We'd like to take this opportunity to wish the original founder of The Corkscrew, Mr Peter Foley, a very Happy Birthday. We won't tell you how old he is, but remember that Corkscrew Wine Merchants opened on Aughrim Street in 1978!! Happy Birthday Peter; three generations may be involved now, but you're the only one who'll have been involved in two past and one future location.

Our second reason, we love everything food and wine related, and we're confident our newest "Case Of The Month" will be up most of your streets. Our amazing friends at Las Tapas De Lola, Anna & Vanessa, recently published their first recipe book, and all we can say is that it's the stuff dreams are made of, the perfect antidote for any event. The hardback recipe book is available to purchase on its own, but we've also included it in this summers must-have mixed case. Check it out...

Inspire your Summer evenings with our Spanish Wine & Tapas Paring 6 bottle case. Tapas are the perfect party food, they can be enjoyed as a meal or simply as finger food, but they're even more enjoyable among good company when accompanied by a glass of wine.

When it comes to wine and Tapas pairing, there's no better man than our Tomasz for the job. He was the former assistant manager and sommelier at the highly acclaimed Las Tapas De Lola Restaurant on Camden Street. Owners Anna and Vanessa recently published a sumptuous recipe book packed with small plates you'll want to devour, and when we got wind of this, we had to have it. The wines in this case have been selected by Tomasz to accompany some of his favourite dishes, and we can't wait to get cooking.

TAPAS Recipe Book - By Anna Cabrera and Vanessa Murphy

Authors Anna Cabrera and Vanessa Murphy met in 2008 and quickly realised that their love for all things food, wine, sangría and vermouth made them a perfect match.
Anna, a native of Barcelona, moved to Ireland in 2001,while Vanessa had lived in Spain on and off over the years. It’s safe to say their love of all things Spanish is in their blood.
While there was already a Spanish offering in Ireland, they were missing so many dishes from home and their travels around Spain that the idea for their own Dublin restaurant, Las Tapas de Lola, was born.

Tapas are the perfect party food and even better icebreakers (great for first dates!). They can be enjoyed at a table or bar or simply as finger food. It’s all about sharing. And the best part is that you don’t have to commit to one dish – you can sample them all.

The recipes that Anna and Vanessa have shared in this book are written the way they love to prepare them. There are thousands of different ways to create so many of these dishes, but that’s the joy of Spain – each region, city, village, bar and family has their own version that’s been handed down over the years.

Now you can make these your own too.
