For quite some time now we've been hearing (not participating) about "Dry January" and it seems it's becoming an increasingly popular trend. As a result we have seen an increase in demand for non-alcoholic wines. Thankfully the quality of non-alcoholic wines has also increased dramatically. We've added some new non-alcoholic wines to our shelves so you don't have to miss out on a glass or two with dinner. We've a new white, red and sparkling from Kolonne, and an old favourite below.

Kolonne was founded in 2018 by friends Moritz & Philip, they have been turning the non-alcoholic wine market upside down. From humble beginnings at small street markets in Berlin, they have gone from strength to strength over the past 3 years, earning national and international acclaim. What sets Kolonne Null apart is that all of their wines are developed and co-produced with award-winning wineries such as Axel Pauly in the Mosel and Bodegas Mas Que Vinos in Toledo, Spain.

The method of de-alcoholization employed by Kolonne Null is also significant - they use vacuum distillation to gently remove the alcohol from the selected wines. The thermal vacuum has the advantage that the alcohol escapes at a low temperature of 30c. This method allows them to keep the structure of the original wine intact while delicately separating the alcohol.

Kolonne Null Riesling 2020

Co-produced with Axel Pauly in the Mosel (the label can only use the village name of Berkasteler Land due to german wine law!), the wine comes with elegant minerality and fresh acidity. Green apples, fresh lemon and some stone fruits with a clear slate character typical of the terroir.

Kolonne Null Rouge

Co-produced with Mas Que Vinos in Toledo, Spain. The wine is full-bodied, powerful and youthful. Dark berries underpinned by black pepper with a pleasantly smooth tannin structure. Bottled under cork

Kolonne Null Cuvee Blanc Sparkling

Co-produced with Freihrr Von Gleichstein in Baden - a winery that has been making quality wine in the area for almost 400 years. Lots of orchard fruits, toasted brioche with a creamy, fine, bubbly texture. Bottled under mushroom cork for a premium feel.
