Details
The name Lombeline, which evokes much discourse, derives from the name of Sainte Lombeline, also known as “la bienheureuse” -meaning the saint of “great happiness”. The idea behind the name is that all who open a bottle of Lombeline wine should feel well, happy and enjoy the experience of our varieties while doing so.
The story of Lombeline began when two French men Thierry Grillet and Charles Derain got together with Irish man Simon Tyrrell in France(in the French countryside). Their aim was to embark on an exciting project that they had spoken about on many occasions over a glass or two of wine. The three men came together to realise their dream and produce what they would agree to be the perfect tasting wine. Having frequented many of the world’s wine fairs together as friends, they noted that they all shared the same tastes in their wines and also the same views and beliefs about wine production.
Both Thierry and Charles were world famous wine Sommelier’s at the time. The former at the prestigious Michelin 3* Restaurant Girardet in Switzerland, and the latter, at the 2* Michelin Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud in Dublin, Ireland. Simon, an Irish wine expert, at that time was successfully running a wine import business in Ireland.
After selecting the best zones and terroirs in France, the first Lombeline vintage was created in 2005. Lombeline wine is produced to the highest quality and every drop scrutinised to ensure its perfection. The Lombeline winemaking team with their diverse skills and collective experience come together to create this truly magnificent tasting wine.
