Quick Overview

Great value Ribera del Duero. Condado de Oriza is owned by the Pagos del Rey and is situated on a hill-top at the heart of the Ribera del Duero region. It is dark and almost concentrated in colour with an enticing nose of dark fruit and spices. The palate is surprisingly broad and fleshy with some warmth and a lovely velvet structure. Delicious, excellent value and perfect with or without food.

Details

While the grape, Tinta del País, is better known as Tempranillo, it's a very different beast in Ribera del Duero to Rioja. The great thing about the grape, particularly in Ribera del Duero, is how it can adapt to large temperature differences between day and night, and between the seasons - harsh, bleak winters and almost scorching, arid summers.

The grapes for this Crianza were carefully selected from vines of over 20 years of age from vineyards at the boundaries of Olmedillo, Anguix and Villatuelda

It underwent 15 days of maceration and followed by fermentationat 28 to 30 degrees. After the wine has undergone malolactic fermentation, it was then aged for 14 months in new American oak. After barrel, the wine remained in bottle for another 9 months before release.
