Dom Rafael Tinto Herdade de Mouchao Alentejo 2009

    €15.95

This is mainly Trincadeira with Alicante Bouschet and Aragonêz. Rich, dark, full spicy nose with complex lush fruit. The palate is savoury and dark with good depth of fruit and some nice spicy structure. There's a lovely savoury depth here: it's not overtly fruity. Delicious Learn More

A complex, ruby-red wine that has hints of violet and eucalyptus which give way to chocolate, spice and white pepper in the mouth. This is a big wine that stands up well to grilled local meats. Fermentation in American Oak, followed by 12 months aging in French oak, give this wine finesse, with silky tannins and a full mouth-feel. Made from the finest Syrah & Touriga Nacional grown on the Estate, a mere 7000 bottles of this high octane red are produced every year. Learn More
  5. Mouchao Alentejo 2005

    Mouchao Alentejo 2005

    €37.95

The 2006 TINTO opens tight, with strong herbal notes, a little roasted cherry nuance, and, after extended aeration, a touch of game. It has fine mid-palate concentration. The Alicante Bouschet (80%) seems quite ripe and the Trincadeira (20%) seems a bit assertive, likely responsible for a little funk. It is a complex flavor profile that I suspect will not be to everyone’s taste, but those who like it will probably love the wine. As always with this winery, it is a well constructed wine with a lingering finish that should age very well. It shows far better the next day, when its structure finally had a chance to show its stuff. 91 Robert Parker Learn More
