  1. Masciarelli Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2010

    Masciarelli Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2010

    €15.95

The Abruzzo region on the Adriatic coast has been more famous for massive production of wine than for high quality single estates. This is starting to change as smaller growers are making their own wines from old vines with lower yields. Flavours of blackberry and cherry are met by warm spice notes of vanilla and toffee on both palate and nose; the finish is long and fruity and shows real quality. Learn More

  4. Masciarelli Iskra Colli Apruntino Montelpulciano 2004

Masciarelli Iskra Colli Apruntino Montelpulciano 2004

    €34.95

Iskra, "The Spark", is a jewel in the Masciarelli portfolio. The vineyard is located in Contraguerra, near Monte Amaro. Contraguerra, the remains of an ancient, battered seaside mountain, has gathered its soils from an ancient sea bed, the Trento River basin, and the glacial washout from Monte Piselli. With its rich, well drained soils and its ocean moderated warm climate, Contraguerra is home to the biggest, boldest, ripest reds in Abruzzo. Learn More
  5. Masciarelli Villa Gemma Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2004

Masciarelli Villa Gemma Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2004

    €60.95

Deep, dark purple in the glass with a big brooding nose with black cherries, spice, leather and liquorice towards the end. Very evident minerality too which is superb. The mouth feel is massive, with dry tannins and gorgeous revealing fruit. It probably needs another 3-5 years to reveal its treasures fully, but will drink well now if you decant it for 3-4 hours. 91 points from Robert Parker. Learn More
