Quinta da Lixa is a living testament to the passion that the Meireles family has always had for Vinho Verde. Active in several areas in the business world, this family, who already owned vineyards next to the small Vila da Lixa, decided in 1986 to create a small business, Soporvin-Sociedade Portuguesa de Vinhos.
The wine produced was originally sold in bulk, but they quickly realised that the quality and the way the wines were received were such that bottling on the estate was essential.
It was then that an opportunity arose to acquire the Quinta that today gives the company its name, covering a total of 10 hectares. In 1998 the company name was changed and the company became Quinta da Lixa and the wines have flowed ever since.
