Details
What's the Irish connection with this wine?
Well, let's start first with Germany. In 2004, Dirk and his designer Cordula Allesandri launched a project to produce an appealing label for the German market with the express aim of bringing the Douro closer to the German wine consumer. After the success in German speaking markets, Niepoort began to develop labels for other countries with each of the different country’s labels is designed by a local artist. And so Sásta was born.
The label was designed by Dublin-based illustrator Fintan Taite and depicts the most well known of all Irish legends, the banishing of snakes from the island.
Sásta is produced from a typical Douro blend of grapes, mainly Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Amerela, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Cao. The 2006 is the first edition of this Douro wine for the Irish market.
Niepoort as one of the true leaders of the Portugese wine industry. The illustrious selection of wines they produce there is extensive, covering Port, red, white and rosé.
And don't forget, every purchase enters you into a draw to win a 5 litre bottle
