Quick Overview

Made from one of Portugal's native white varietals, Arinto. The Morgado de Sta. Catherina is fermented "sur lies" with "bétonnage" in oak barrels with a small maturing in the Quinta da Romeira cellars in Bucelas. Dry but with an amazing complexity. In terms of quality, compares well with top white Burgundies at twice the price.

Details

The region is Bucleas, where wines were established officially in 1908 even if their international reputation predates this by quite a bit. So much so that Shakespeare praised the area in 1594 while the Duke of Wellington was so impressed with the wines that he sent a bottle back to the King of England, George III.
