Details
In 1996, Artadi ventured in to the historic wine region of Navarra and launched Artazu in the northern most zone of the D.O. at an altitude on 400-600 meters. It is here that Juan Carlos Lopez de la Calle discovered mind-blowing old Grenache vineyards and allowed them to fully express their potential for depth and personality in his modern style winery.
The vineyards were a “nearly lost inheritance,” and through hard and labor intensive viticulture, Artadi has revived these tired plots and transformed them from the forgotten to the avant-garde. The Santa Cruz vineyard is nearly one hundred years old, with balanced vegetation and a perfect adaptation to its habitat. Their yields are very low reaching the maximum aromatic concentration.
