Montevertine Pian del Ciampolo 2009
€21.95There are approximately 10 hectares of vineyards at Montevertine planted almost exclusively to the Sangiovese grape. Small amounts of Colorino and Canaiolo are planted to supplement the Sangiovese. Some Malvasia is planted as well. Wine production at Montevertine is essentially devoted to three wines. The Pian del Ciampolo, composed of Sangiovese with a tiny amount of Canaiolo blended in, is the basic red wine of the estate. It sees 18 months of ageing in large barrels and is the most precocious of the wines. Learn More -

A magnificent steep south facing vineyard, the name ‘brown hill’ refers to the iron oxide colour of the slate soil. This iron rich ground produces wines that have a high mineral intensity with very pure fruit yet remaining elegant, Sonnenuhr is pocketed in the middle of the Brauneberg vineyard. It is well sheltered and with its proximity to the river the vines attract botrytis (noble rot). Learn More -
Wagner-Stempel Siefersheimer Riesling Trocken (Dry) 2011

Gruner Veltliner-like suggestions of fresh green beans add to the intrigue of a piquantly and pungently herb-, spice-, apricot kernel- and crushed stone-tinged finish. This rather full, rich Riesling should be fascinating to follow for at least the better part of a decade.

€29.95The Wine has a rich array of aromas and flavours. Impressions of peach and nectarine intermingle with those of guava, passion-fruit, lemon and lime. Honeysuckle and wild-flower honey elements are added by the noble botrytis. It is concentrated and powerful in the mouth but yet refined and elegant. There is a spine of minerality and lively acidity, providing a perfect foil to its lusciousness and drawing out its length.
