The 2007 Vacqueyras Floureto is a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and the rest Mourvedre and Cinsault. It boasts a dense purple color to the rim as well as an exceptional bouquet of creme de cassis, licorice, meat juices, smoke, soy, and bouquet garni. The complex aromatics are followed by a wine with outstanding density, a superb, full-bodied mouthfeel, and a deep, rich, complete finish. This beautiful wine should drink well for 7-8 years. 2. Cuilleron Condrieu 'La Petite Cote' 2009

Cuilleron Condrieu 'La Petite Cote' 2009

    €45.95

Light gold. Intensely perfumed bouquet of ripe peach, poached pear, violet and anise. More exotic on the palate, offering suave passion fruit and floral honey flavours, and finishing with impressive length and lingering sweetness. This is awfully sexy right now.” Stephen Tanzer 91pts - We totally agree!

  3. Domaine du Tunnel Cornas 2006

    Domaine du Tunnel Cornas 2006

    €49.95

Intense and really packed, with tightly wound currant, fig and blackberry fruit held at bay by iron-clad tannins and a racy, chalky spine. Plenty of olive, tobacco and bay leaf notes fill in the background. 94 Points Wine Spectator Learn More

Domaine Patrick & Christophe Bonnefond Côte Rôtie 2007

    €49.95

Youthful purple colour. Sexy Asian spice and red berry aromas are complicated by smoked meat and incense. Darker berries are on display in the mouth, along with hints of black olive and sweet chewing tobacco. Finishes with good grip and a jolt of refreshingly bitter cherry pit. This is already beginning to show some complexity. (Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar –88-91 points) Learn More
  5. Domaine de la Janasse Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2009

Domaine de la Janasse Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2009

    €50.95

    Out of stock

The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape is probably one of the strongest “regular” efforts I have ever tasted from Sabon. This dense purple blend of 75 to 80% Grenache and the rest Mourvedre and Syrah, aged in truncated wood cuves and foudres, has a beautiful, sweet nose of black cherry jam intermixed with roasted herbs, black currants, forest floor and a hint of charcoal. The wine has great intensity, full-bodied opulence, and a striking seductiveness that is already irresistible. It should continue to drink well for 12-15 years. 94 Wine Advocate Learn More
  6. Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2004

Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2004

    €125.00

Note that in 2004 there was slightly more Mourvedre than usual in the blend - 35%. Medium+ garnet colour. Earthy aromas starting to kick-in with notes of loam, forest floor and tobacco leaf complimenting the red cherry and warm strawberry fruits. A waft of dried Mediterranean herbs. Medium to full body. Medium to high acidity and a medium level of grainy tannins are fleshed out by savoury and spice flavours. Long finish with a little minerality coming through. Drink now to 2025+. Tasted August 2009. 7. Chateau de Beaucastel Chataeuneuf-du-Pape 2001

    Chateau de Beaucastel Chataeuneuf-du-Pape 2001

    €140.00

Beaucastel has been on a terrific qualitative roll over the last four vintages, and the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape (which Francois Perrin feels is similar to the 1990, although I don’t see that as of yet) is a 15,000-case blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the balance split among the other permitted varietals of the appellation. This inky/ruby/purple-colored cuvee offers a classic Beaucastel bouquet of new saddle leather, cigar smoke, roasted herbs, black truffles, underbrush, and blackberry as well as cherry fruit. It is a superb, earthy expression of this Mourvedre-dominated cuvee. Full-bodied and powerful, it will undoubtedly close down over the next several years, not to re-emerge for 7-8 years. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2025. Wine Advocate #151 Feb 2004 - Robert Parker 96 Learn More
  8. Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Rouge 1979

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Rouge 1979

    €186.00

According to Robert Parker: "This is a perfect example of my statement about Chave's wine starting off slowly. After bottling in 1981, this wine seemed light in color and rather insubstantial. Two years later the color seemed deeper and more body was apparent. Fully mature by 1987, this wine remains delicious. It is elegant, ripe, round, medium-bodied, generously flavored, and well balanced..." Learn More

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Rouge 1983

    €296.00

A fantastic wine. Beautifully aromatic, with a fresh, spicy personality and a complexity that’s hard to put into words. I was getting notes of tar, earth, herbs, blood and meat. It’s sweet but savoury at the same time. The palate showed spicy red fruits with a subtle medicinal character, as well as tangy citrus notes on the finish. A complex, multifaceted wine with nice definition. 95/100 Jamie Goode Learn More
