Quick Overview

Muscadet sur lie is a always such an underrated wine, with its bright, expressive nose of quince, peach, apple and buttery hints. The palate is crisp and lively with ripe fruit and flowery character, ending with sea scents, minerals and citrus notes. Excellent Muscadet! "crisp certainty with exceptional interest and length" - Kevin Ecock. "This is a superb example with zingy mineral fruits"- John Wilson, Irish Times.

Details

Chateau du Coing de Saint-Fiacre Muscadet is made by the dynamic Chereau family from a treasured plot of 80-year-old vines. Their stunning 18th century estate nestles in the confluence of the Sevre and Maine rivers with a unique terroir renowned as the region’s ‘Grand Cru’. Far from resting on their laurels, the family have worked tirelessly at further increasing the quality of their fruit - and their old vines respond magnificently by boosting flavour intensity to superb levels. Quality emphatically confirmed by three Golds and a top rating from wine bible Guide Hachette.

Sèvre et Maine is acknowledged to be the best district in which to grow Muscadet, or Melon de Bourgogne as the variety is also known. These two rivers moderate the cool temperatures which is important at this northerly latitude and the distinctive gneiss soils give a particularly racy, fragrant style of Muscadet
